Sorry layers, blunt cuts are in!

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]For so many of us for so long now, long layers have been almost a given. Whether we take our hair shorter or grow it longer, they’re part of the equation. With good reason—they can lighten up thick hair and add volume and movement to thinner hair, and they facilitate those swooping, face-framing sections that flatter every face shape.

BUT. There’s a new haircut in town (Hollywood-town), and it’s all about not layering—at least not noticeably. We’re referring to the blunt cut. Perfectly even ends just look so fresh right now. Or even, as Lena Dunham put it on Instagram last week, poetic. “I miss @zoe.kazan so I am sharing this photo I took of her blunt ends, which are so poetic to me,” she captioned this photo. While growing out her short hair, Dunham herself has been wearing blunt ends, according to the man behind her most recent cut, Marcus Francis, who happens to have given Julianne Moore a blunt cut just last night. He says both his clients and fellow celebrity hairstylists are definitely feeling the straight-edged vibe right now. “It’s a departure from the scraggly undone hair that was around for a while,” he explains. “Blunter and undone looks healthier and more enviable.”
